My name is Lisa.  I’m married to my best friend, and we have two daughters. We live in Nebraska.

My oldest daughter left for college in 2014.   I thought I had prepared myself for her leaving…well tried to anyway.  We raise them to leave, right?   But as I’ve seen, nothing can prepare a student, or her parents, or her little sister for such a huge change.  More babbling about that here.

3 months after The College Girl left, WordPress ran a photo-a-day challenge.  I hadn’t been posting much prior to that November, but I happened to see the challenge and thought I’d give it a try.  I’d always liked taking photos, but had hadn’t been very purposeful or disciplined in trying to improve as a photographer.

The November photo challenge was really fun, and it ended up opening the door for another positive way to handle the difficulties in my life.   Since then, there hasn’t been a week I haven’t gotten my camera out and taken pictures.   It has gotten me outside, and has helped me to be more aware of and thankful for all of the beauty around me.  I’ve learned a lot, and have also met some wonderful people in the WordPress blog community.

Thanks for stopping by.  Hope you say hello, so I can pop on over to your blog and wander around.

P.S.  I’ve decided not to accept blog awards anymore.  Thank you to those who have been so kind in nominating me.  🙂

  1. Hello Lisa,

Thank you so much for stopping by and following my blog 🙂

So nice to find your beautiful blog here…

I just loved the images and your write up.

Hope to follow your blogging journey and many more stories and images from beautiful Nebraska.

Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year to you and your family 🙂

    Have a great time 🙂

  2. Your blog name is the reason why I decided to drop by your blog. Grey days and coffee are two of my favorite things too! *Hands Down*
I realized your blog is very relatable, not because I’m a parent, but I’m a child of parents who too got sappy when my elder brother was leaving for college. Somehow they got lucky with me, I decided to stay in my hometown for 3 more years of undergraduate. 😛

Anyway, I love your blog and from what I can read in your About Page, you’re a wonderful person and a mom too. 🙂
    Looking forward to your posts.
    Aakansha. 🙂

    1. I just popped over to my About page to make some additions, and saw your comment. So sorry I didn’t respond before now. I hope you’ve had a great 2015, and that 2016 brings you many surprise blessings. 🙂

  3. Lisa, what a wonderful blog you have, filled with lovely photos (though I have to admit I really do have a fear of insects, so I quickly skipped over your macro shots 😉). I look forward to seeing more!

  4. Oh, just had the most wonderful visit all about your website. I encourage you to continue with it and know that you are recording a wonderful record of your and your family’s life.

I remember dropping my oldest daughter off to Douglass College in New Jersey…she was the very first in our family to attend college, and it was one of the best days ever….but gosh…then there is that moment you get home and you realize that they are in fact GONE!

Love your website. I am you r newest follower.

    1. Thanks for the follow! I followed you back and am looking forward to getting to know another blog-friend better. And you’re right…the hardest part for me was when we pulled in the driveway after dropping her off and her car was gone. I fell apart. But, she’s in her second year now, and it has been so much easier this year.

      1. Oh, it will get so much easier. By the time they are a senior in college you already have kinda moved your stuff into their room at home…Your grown children become the most interesting adults. Often surprising you, and such a joy.
Nice to h ave met you. Yes, let us follow one another.

  5. Hi Lisa – thanx for visiting my blog – I’m a coffee lover too!! I also have 2 daughters but we have transitioned beyond college to marriages and a granddaughter. Enjoy every stage that you go through – each is a beautiful transition. Your photos are lovely!!!

  6. I just spent the last hour, snoopin in on all of your photos! I ADORE THEM!!! I also love Nebraska scenery and you capture it very well! I’m in Eastern Colorado so our scenery is somewhat similar, so I think that adds to the wonder and excitement of your photos for me. I see a lot of the things I would capture in your photos. Needless to say, I love your site, your photos and you are wonderful as well! Many blessings for the new year! 🙂

  7. It was so nice to be introduced to your blog Lisa. I’m also someone for which photography has made a real difference in my life. I wish you a splendid and happy 2016, looking forward to your many blog entries and photos.
    Kind regards, Agnes
